Our Story

And we understand the importance of the relationship between distributors and their suppliers. How? Because we've experienced it firsthand.

In 1990, Edge founder, Ron Meyers, owned an electronics distribution company and struggled to get the right products at competitive prices. It was this experience that inspired him to start a distributor owned buying group to help independent distributors team up with leading manufacturers and compete more effectively.

Today, The Edge Group connects more than 140 independent distributors with leading manufacturers in the datacom, CCTV/security, low voltage, electronic MRO, and electronic OEM industries. Collectively, Edge distributors have more than 1,120 stocking locations, $156MM in inventory, and more than $1.2B in annual sales.

Pioneering profitable opportunities for the middle market

1991:

Edge Marketing and Procurement is formed with 2 employees.

1992:

Edge holds its first member and supplier conference in Dallas, TX, with 19 attendees.

Edge receives its first press mention in Electronics Distribution Today magazine.

1993:

Edge issues its first rebate checks to Edge members.

1994:

Edge acquires its own office space.

Edge's in-house marketing department is created.

1995:

First Canadian distributors (Electronique Ray Bel, Interior Electronics, and B&E Industrial Electronics) join Edge.

1996:

Edge launches its shared distributor inventory system, Immediate Stock.

Edge produces its first corporate brochure and linecard.

1998:

Edge moves to its current location.

2002:

9 members and 8 suppliers celebrated their 5 or 10 year anniversary with Edge.

2003:

Membership exceeds 100 independent distributors.

Edge Fund is created.

2007:

13 members and 13 suppliers celebrated their 5, 10 or 15 year anniversary with Edge.

2008:

Edge launches its e-Commerce initiative.

Edge expands its headquarters to accommodate growth.

2011:

Edge celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Edge holds its 20th annual conference in Houston, TX.

2015:

Edge maintains a member retention rate of 99.1%. The six original members that joined to form Edge are still active members today.

2016:

Edge celebrates its 25th anniversary.
