Edge is a distributor-owned buying and marketing group with the strength, expertise, inventory, and sales equivalent to national distributors.

We have strategic partnerships with top industry manufacturers and suppliers that have more than 200 product lines. Our 100 independent distributor members have over 170 stocking locations, more than $90 million in inventory and approximately $700 million in annual sales.

Edge was formed to combat many of the same challenges independent distributors still deal with today, while giving suppliers greater access to markets more quickly and cost effectively.

In 1990, Ron Meyers owned a 2-1/2 year old electronics distribution company with annual sales of just under $1 million. He struggled getting the right products and getting them at competitive prices.

Knowing this was no way to run a business, Ron began searching for a better way. He decided to start a distributor owned buying group that would help distributors compete. His goal was to give independent distributors the same tools, expertise, services and access to lines as the large distribution companies have but without having to spend all the effort and money. Together, these distributors would be more successful by pooling their purchasing power and creating better relationships with suppliers. Each distributor could become stronger while maintaining their independence. The group would also be cost effective because they could share the expenses for the services or tools they needed to compete that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford on their own.

The six original members that joined to form Edge are still active members today.

More than 18 years later, Edge consists of more than 100 member owners with over 170 stocking locations across the U.S. and Canada with sales of approximately $700 million annually. Edge represents over 200 supplier lines and offers the member owners access to just about every product their customers need.

Edge has grown strong because of the support received from the member owners and suppliers. While we are excited about this growth, it feels like we are still only just beginning. With great feedback from our members and suppliers, Edge continues to expand its programs, tools and services to make Edge distributors and suppliers more successful.
